Tehran to host Louvre Museum exhibition

Director of Iran Museums and Historical Properties Office has said the Louvre is to hold an exhibition in Tehran.

Mohammad-Reza Kargar said, “The exhibition is based on a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the deputy of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization and the Louvre Museum signed in March.”

He added that the exhibition will showcase valuable items from the Louvre Museum related to Egyptian and Ancient Greek civilizations as well as some artworks from France in a space of four months.

This is for the first time that the French museum has lent some of its antique items to the National Museum of Iran.

Kargar explained that lending the Louvre Museum to Iran is a sign of trust between Iran and France as well as the promotion of relationship between the two countries' museums.

He also noted countries such as Armenia and South Korea are set to hold exhibition in Iran, adding Mexico is willing to do so in the country.
